medicaid recipients monthly itemized statements of services
rendered and claimed for reimbursement by providers.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That article five, chapter nine of the code of West Virginia,
one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by
adding thereto a new section, designated section eleven-d, to read
as follows:
ARTICLE 5. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS.
§9-5-11d. Itemized statements of medicaid services rendered.

The state medicaid agency shall furnish all recipients of
services or assistance under the medicaid program a detailed monthly statement itemizing all billing for services or assistance
claimed by any provider of services or assistance approved by this
chapter. The statement will contain, at a minimum, the following
information for each line item: Name of provider; date of service
or assistance; medicaid billing code; description of the service or
assistance; and the number of units billed.
If the statement is
not accurate, or if the recipient, guardian, committee or attorney
in fact for the recipient disagrees with any service or assistance
described on the statement, he or she shall notify the state
medicaid agency immediately. Pursuant to article seven of this
chapter, the state medicaid agency shall investigate any
discrepancy brought to its attention by or on behalf of a medicaid
recipient.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the state
Medicaid agency to furnish to Medicaid recipients monthly itemized
statements of all assistance or services claimed to have been
provided to facilitate verification of the accuracy of claims
submitted by providers.

This section is new; therefore, strike-throughs and
underscoring have been omitted.
